I tried ebid for 6 months, took all the advice on the forums about decent listings, spreading the word etc, etc - I had 1 completed sale and 1 non payer in the whole time!

The same item was selling in the 10's every day on ebay. I even had a very basic website set up with just some simple paypal buttons and even that was selling a few items every couple of days! My prices on ebid were cheaper than on ebay and my website and even that didn't seem to attract the buyers! I'm just glad the £50 I blew on the lifetime membership was money I could afford to lose - it was a gamble and I lost.

I look at my lifetime membership as a gamble that lost me money as well, although I do 'park' a lot of lines in my ebid shops and still on occasions refer repeat buyers across to ebid. So for instance if I sell a widget A in a series, I might add a note to the packaging slip saying if you are interested in widget B C D etc then I have them in my ebid shop 'here' . All that happens is though that either people ask me to list widget B on ebay for them, or sell it direct.

The sales I made on ebid at the beginning of the year were all my best sellers on ebay, and actually made me less money than I make on the same item day after day on ebay.

The forums are actually looking quite despondent now even on the welcome to new members thread.

My Summer challenge will be to get my own web page up and running so I can park my duplicates and rest of sets on there for repeat business.
