I have just checked our bank account and for some reason a child tax credit payment has just gone in but we dont get it on a Thursday but on a Tuesday and have all ready been paid it this week.
the payment we have just got is a couple more pounds more then our normal payment.
could this be because the new tax year has started?

I think it is just a "one off" Payment and you will be paid as usual. It's quite common to get this. I used to get it every year apart from the last 2 years.
What i used to do is this. See money in bank. wait until usual payday ( I never had the money so i pretended it wasn't there ) Then i used to get paid as usual and rechecking with HMRC told me that it was a one off cash lump sum.0 -

How long did it take for your payments to change and to get your tax credits letter? I renewed a week ago , my payments stayed the same0
