Account Adjustment - Credited

I checked my statement today and realised that two "clearing account adjustments" have been made to my account. The first was for £2000 and I have no idea where it came from. The other is for an odd amount, duplicating a cheque paid in earlier in the month...
My local branch staff didn't have any idea what was going on. Has anyone else seen this?
