any way to enlarge webpage pics for printing?

I'm trying to do a craft project (personal use only) but can only find pictures I want online, so obviously they are jpegs with a low resolution, so no good for enlarging purposes.

Is there any way round this - or any trusted sites that offer higher quality (free ?) pictures?

Thanks:)

Have you tried including 'hi res' in your search?

What's available depends on what you're looking for as well.
  • Irfanview is the best free enlarging software out there, but it still won't make a 100pixel picture look good at 10x8"; you have to be realistic.

What is the pic you are after. If it is a graphic, may be able to get a vector graphic (this allows you to enlarge to any size without quality loss)

Hi. Thanks for all the suggestions. I've had hardly any internet connection since I posted, so apologise for the delay in replying to you all.

I managed to sort something out in the end in Paintshop Pro.
Basically from the Resize option I ticked the 'Advanced Settings' box to keep the original size when I changed the resolution to 300 dpi.
I ticked the 'Resample' box using 'Bicubic'
and the 'Lock aspect ratio' box.

It seemed to work enough for my needs as the picture was quite basic with little detail.
