With regard to mobile speed cameras, are there any rules as to were they can be parked ? i.e. can they only be parked were it is legal to do so and not,say on a footpath?

Who polices the Police is my question.A wise man changes his mind, a fool never will.

The Police Authority or The Independent Police Complaints Commission or their own internal investigation departments0

Coolhandluke I imagine they will be covered.Just as the guys who issue parking tickets are allowed to park their vehicle on double yellow lines whilst working.Check out the first website before replying to any correspondence you may get from the police.
Interesting article on speed cameras at http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0200wales/page.cfm?method=full&objectid=12690039
and another at https://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/how.htm0 -
Oh dear Coolhandluke have you been caught
Are you sure it was a speed detector van and not a Vehicle Licence Recogniation camera. The latter is checking number plates against DVLA database for car tax avoidance etc.
I was once caught by a Red light camera. I asked for a picture as I couldn't believe I had driven through a red light. They sent me the picture and there I was
. I was still flumoxed but then realised there were two lorries in front of me in each lane. When I was next driving through the lights I had a lorry in front of me and it completely obliterated my view of the lights. I was going to plead this as my defence but I never heard from them again for some reason. I think they only have 6 months to prosecute you though and this was 3 years ago.

Thanks everyone for all the advice & links etc.
I can only wait now to see what appears through the post in the next 14 days.
Its just that i have 3 points already for a speeding offence in October.
Over here now in N.Ireland the police have very little to do so seem to be swamping my area with mobile cameras :mad:0 -
If you go to https://www.pepipoo.com you might find articles to help you fight
the charge since some of the mobiles are notoriously unreliable.0 -

It's cos I am an idiot misspriscilla, and did not check that the url worked.I have edited my previous post so that it now works.Proably should not have on reflection since it now makes your post look wrong.
I assume that the owners of the website like you to arrive at certain pages on their site first,so that they can monitor your movements?0
