Hi Piratess
Are you looking at going away for the weekend with him/her? Did you want somewhere romatic or special, or just a base?
Do you want Charminster in Bournemouth (there is a Charminster in Dorchester too I think)? I'm not sure that there are many hotels or B&Bs round there though this is quite close http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/a15851.html
Most of the Bournemouth hotels tend to be clustered around the coast - East and West Cliff, Southbourne etc.

Hiya well we are going to the Salsa bar in Charminster and my OH says it is about 5 mins taxi from Bournemouth, so wanted to surprise him with a nice room for the night, its for his 30th birthday so romantic/special would be nice!
thanks for your help xxHoping to be a thinner me in 2010!0 -
there aren't any hotels really in Charminster, maybe a couple of B&B's left straggling but most are selling up to be re-developed. If you want somewhere nice you are best off getting one in the town centre areas or on the cliffs, it is literally a few minutes in a taxi. Your choice then is dependent on your budget, have a look at Laterooms or something, there is also a Hilton in the town centre if you have tesco vouchers which I think you can use.
(And I'm jealous Salsas pick and mix special is my favourite meal, we've moved away from that part of town so don't get there as often now..boo hiss)0 -
ohhhh ive never been to the salsa bar so will be a new experiance for me altho my DP has been a few times and loves it,
what would you recomend then?

This is an interesting list - most popular hotels in Bournemouth

I've never heard of #1 or #2! But I know the Hermitage is always considered very nice in the centre of town, if you can get a deal there. Or Langtry's Manor. That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Henry David Thoreau0 -
still depends on budget, the Royal Bath/Royal Exeter/hilton/Marriott are probably the 'best' hotels but you'll likely pay more for that. There are countless others in the midprice range but from what I know they do tend to vary a lot in quality. The Miramar and Carlton tend to be used by people I've met through work and also for weddings. Or Langtry Manor is usually recommended although it's not in the greatest location.0
