Sun holidays at Butlins...Any tips?

Well...

Didn't get the week in Brittany I would have liked, but did get a weekend at Butlins Bognor Regis in July that the kids are over the moon about. :j

I have never been to Butlins, so have a few questions I;m hoping someone can help with...
  • Have read poor reviews about the standard accomodation and mixed about the silver, so is it possible to upgrade at somepoint and is it worth the difference?
  • Is it worth paying the extra for half board?
  • Any other tips for making the most of our weekend?
Thank you! :)

We always upgrade to Silver and ask for Atlantic Bay which is the nicest silver IMO. Your kids will love it
  • I stayed in Standard Accomadation a few years ago & it was pretty dire. I have stayed Silver for the past few years, and am fairly happy with it. We usually only get the rooms though (no seating or kitchen/lounge) but decent enough sizes. Having said that standard does usually give you a kitchen with fridge so you can stock up on groceries and such espiecially if going self-catered.

I much prefer halfboard and have done this on the last 4 occasions. It just 'works' better for me and our group. It works out at £40.75 for adult for 3 nights (obviously more if staying for 4 or 7 days) I don't think I could afford halfboard if staying for the week!! Anyway its buffet style so you can really fill up - some people hate it but we love it!! dinner times are somewhat odd (4.30-6.30) but I can live with that.

The town centre is a lovely walk across the beach front - you can also get a little train which the children may like. Bognor beach is stony! get to swimming pool early as thier can be a que sometimes, if you have any shows you want to watch get thier early as well as the ques here sometimes are ridicoulous...and sometimes you can't get a seat!

Finally bring lots of money cause it can get expensive with any (paid) activities you may want to try.
