Tax credit dispute letter used on another claim!!!

My wife sent an overpayment dispute letter regarding a single claim she had 7 years ago after receiving a letter demanding payment.
They have sent a letter today regarding our existing joint claim, explaining they are looking into the dispute and any demands for overpayment have stopped. However my wife/me/us are not disputing this joint claim.
On the dispute letter my details were not entered, nor was any reference to our joint claim.
Have the TCO broke any confidentiality rules etc.

No they haven't broken any rules.
Did she say on the letter what overpayment she was disputing? If no then that would be why it's happened.Saving money like a trouper...0 -

Of course she said what overpayments she was disputing. She refered directly to the letter they had sent her.
It should not of happened.. No partners details were entered so clearly the dispute was refering to single claim.0 -

To dispute an o/p you need to complete a stand-alone TC846, so there no direct links to the letter that was sent out. The TC846 does ask for the year that the o/p related to, so if the year was entered, it is possible that there was an o/p on both claims within that year. It's impossible for anyone to say for sure without actually seeing what was filled in.0 -

Thanks. My wife did use TC846, my wife did specify the the year of overpayment (2003), our joint claim only started 2006 and have only ever had an overpayment on this the last year (2011/12). In the space provided my wife wrote 'thanks for letter dated ??? regarding an overpayment'. So its in black and white what she was disputing..
Just seems another case of the TCO making yet another mistake they dont like to admit to doing.0
