Controller for office thermostat?

Hi

Is there a cheap and easy way to put a maximum temp on an office thermostat. We seem to have acquired a couple of staff who keep putting it up to 30 degrees all the time despite being asked not to as it makes it stifling for other people and is no doubt costing us a fortune. Is there a way to prevent the thermostat (dial style) being turned up that much? We don't want to take away access altogether as people need to be able to make adjustments to some extent, and some days it gets turned right off, of course. But can I stop people going OTT with the heat?

You need to add another thermostat with a maximum setting. I can't stand people doing it either. You can also set it so that it displays 30 but in reality it'll switch off at 21 degrees. You would wire them in series so both need to be calling for heat for the heating to work. Then they can still set the existing one to 30 if they want and the secondary thermostat which you hide behind a locked area will turn it off at 21 anyway but they feel warm as it's set to 30.

I would also get them some desk thermometers so they can see the real temperature. If people can see the real temperature they seem to feel warmer even though it's freezing cold outside.

My OH seems to think that setting the thermostat to 30 makes it heat up quicker and despite explaining that the boiler is either on or off she still doesn't get it.

I so agree with above post, in fact our maintennace people fitted dummy thermostats, much as above post, so the twiddlers could twiddle away without affecting the rest of the staff

    Hi

What is the make and model of stat?

Some can be adjusted internally to prevent the dial being turned past a point of your choosing.

It's a Honeywell, but it doesn't say which model. Having a closer look there is a screw holding the casing on so I might be exploring in there. Thanks.
