I don't think I was the only responder who hadn't grasped that this is the other half of a pair of semi-detached houses. That little gem changes everything!
Please, for your own sake, speak either to your insurers legal team or consult a solicitor URGENTLY! Either this man doesn't even know about the PWA or he is planning to disregard it and, as GDB2222 has already quite correctly pointed out, the ramifications of that could be horrendous.
Referring to the remark quoted above, I'd go so far as to suggest that you could lose your house (vibration damage, subsidence, cracked blockwork, unsupported steelwork) never mind your garden ...seriously :eek:0 -
All I can say is, having experienced our old neighbours' scaffolders outside our windows (and I mean RIGHT outside), dropping all sorts of rubbish over the fence (lumps of concrete etc) I wouldn't allow it. Our old neighbours were livid that we insisted that their scaffolders put up a tarp so we could actually go outside the house without a hard hat on (and tbh it still wasn't safe, and we had young kids)They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Have you checked the terms of his grant of permission?
It may be there's something in there about how the work is to be done which may assist you.0 -

Agree a party wall surveyor sounds necessary. The neighbours pay for it, so they will be hoping you don't know as it can be a fairly decent cost.
For the sake of everyone's sanity though, can I suggest you DON'T use Vincent Brown! Google them to get an idea of how they do business...0 -
It is annoying when others edit a quote of your post to change the context of what one said
I'm sorry but I don't understand this comment nor the purported quote at all. (How many glasses of wine did you say you'd had or perhaps you were just in the mood to see nonsense?!)

I'd have 2 words for your neighbour first one begins with F second one is off. I've worked with scaffs for years they are a bread apart if you have any concerns with the job and need to speak to them your likely to be told to f@ck off! The scaffolding will damage the decking and the work itself will completely trash your garden. And who in there right mind is happy to have someone else's workers parading about YOUR garden in the height of summer. In no uncertain terms tell them to poke it!!!!!!! I'm actually angry for you!!!
Totally agree - just what I was trying to say in polite terms! From what I know of scaffs OP will need to be around to check they don't use their property anyway, even if they haven't had permission. I'd think about CCTV beforehandYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
