Hi Dave Ham,
I intend to pay off the unsecured credit cards.
Thank you so much Dave Ham and The J and Harvey115.
I will keep you posted once I have spoken to the brokers.
Cheers, Dealingwithit0 -
Hi Guys,
I gave them both a nudge, 1st one said no one will do it if hubby is in temporary contract for less than a year (he has 9 months) even with similar role previously - end of story!
2nd one thought I was saying he wasn't looking hard enough for me.....I reassured him I didn't think that at all, he will ask his boss if there is any one else out there.
Here's hoping0 -

With a sensible deposit, there will always be a solution - the new build part makes a bit more of a challenge though.
I think the boss will come good but it would depend upon their relationships with the lenders...I am a Mortgage Broker

Hello,
We are in the same position my husband is about t go into his last month of his current contract (12 month contract) and has been extended a futher 12 months, we told the IFA and they didnt think it would be an issue and have put our app into the Nationwide but havent asked us for anymore info so i have a sneaky feeling they might not have declared on our behalf and just hope no one does any checking.0 -
@Dave Ham...
Dave please can you elaborate a little further on your comments about Santander and Nationwide? I bank with both of those and will be looking for a mortgage deal in the foreseeable future?0 -

Some lenders (not the 2 you bank with unfortunately) offer not only better rates to core bank account holders, but also offer preferential underwriting terms so in the OP's case they may have been more flexible in the underwriting of temporary employment...
Hope this makes it clear..I am a Mortgage Broker

Cheers. I would welcome your further comments on my situation but will start a new thread now rather than hijacking this one!0

Hi Dealingwithit,
My husband started a fixed-term role (fixed-term until August 2012) in February 2012 and we have just got a mortgage with Lloyds (with whom we bank). They told us that they were granting us the mortgage despite the temporary nature of his work because he has been continuously employed for over 2 years, and I mean he has not had even a week's gap.
We were also approved for mortgages from Halifax and Santander but have chosen to go with Lloyds.
Hope that helps!0 -
Hi lowlitmemory,
Thank you so much in sharing your excellent news! It gives us hope. Maybe we could try my hubby's bank!!
The other restriction seems to be we want to buy a new build, why only a few lenders are happy to give mortgages on a new build I dont know!!
I will keep everyone posted.
Cheers, Dealingwithit0
