hi everyone hopefully just a quick question about tax credits.just found my self out of work for the first time since leaving school, we have 3 children and get child tax credits at the moment, will this continue now that im out of work, wife works 8hrs per week and there is no chance to increase this the way the economy is at the moment does she have to be working at least 16hrs to qualify for them to continue. been on entitled to and it says we should get full allowence but its best to check with people who have been in a simular position thanks for any help.

Your wife will need to work 24 hours under the new rules (unless you are incapacitated, or one of you qualifies for the disability element).
You should get maximum CTC, you should get a full benefits check as you might be entitled to income based -Jobseeker's allowance and help with council tax/rent etc...

The 24 hour rule (used to be 16 until recently) is for working tax credits for couples (lone parents still only need to work 16 hours to qualify).
Child tax credits are linked to income but not tied to specific working hours threshold.0
