Owners Direct..Payment by Bank Draft?

Hi I need some advice. I have booked a Holiday Villa through Owners Direct. I have to pay by 2 instalments. The owner has asked me to pay by Bankers Draft. I know its more than likely to be an honest person but Im a bit woried as to why he's asked for payment in this way rather than by cheque or bank transfer.
Is there way to reassure myself that this is a safe transaction.
Thanks

Yes you can reassure yourself by simply being upfront with the owner and asking them outright. If you would feel more confident booking by paying by cheque or bacs then say so, can't see any reason why they would not accept this.

I have asked him and am waiting on his reply. I just thought Id ask in case anyone knows of anything else I might do that I haven't thought off.

    the villa is overseas
  • we've used owners direct and other websites many times,

i always go on my gut feeling, we just booked an apt. for algarve, originally booked a villa, when it came to paying she wanted a bankers draft, no other payment, and added on cleaning fees ?, something didnt sound right to me so we changed to another place, paid by bacs so i have proof, she has proof etc.

if your not 100% sure about her either ask for her bank details so you can transfer into her account, or pay by cheque so there is a paper trail.
    :p
