Hi no i haven't I didn't know anything about all this i'll get my wifw to phone up tomorrow to find out more.Have you had an assessment for your needs? An occupational therapist will be able to recommend the best thing for you, plus the grants are paid by your local council and they won't give the grant until you've been assessed.0 -
My husband's goes at a snail's pace, I dread the day he has an upset stomach and needs to get to the toilet quickly. :eek:Perhaps if you could find someone who already has a stairlift fitted you could try theirs. They only move slow and you can strap yourself in, maybe someone could walk up at the same time holding your hand.

I definitely second the idea of an OT assessment. Mine was a godsend and really helped me!2019 Wins

Brian Potters stair lift broke down two thirds of the way down the stairs when the mains tripped.
He was sat there just out of reach of the phone. Wondering what Thora Hurd would have done.0 -

That was funny and I must admit the first time my husband used his stair lift after it was installed all we could think about was Brian Potter.Witchfinder_General wrote: »Brian Potters stair lift broke down two thirds of the way down the stairs when the mains tripped.

It would never happen though with a modern stair lift, they've got a back-up battery so even if the electric went off it would still get you up or down.
The blooming thing beeps like mad if the electric goes off during a power cut, it's very annoying. Dum Spiro Spero0 -
I've just bought a house & the previous owner had had a grant from the Council to build an extension with a downstairs bedroom & wet room as she was unable to get upstairs anymore due to a back condition.
