Bargain northern retreat?

Hi folks,

The misses and I, together with the hound, have secured a pass for 1 child free weekend on the date of our choosing. Yay!
I've never been in the position of not looking for a family holiday and finding it hard work. Does anyone have any top MSE tips?

Requirements are not too far from Yorkshire-ish(petrol's expensive you know? plus not much point for one weekend), somewhere quiet, suitable for us and the dog and most of all....cheap!

Google is giving me a bewildering array of unsuitable and expensive results :(
Where should I be looking?

Many thanks

Aww what a shame, our property is not really suitable for dogs, although the area is, you could have stayed in our cottage, its a perfect base for walking, tourists and romantic weekends, we go and just sit in the garden when its not let....its a lovely place even if I say so myself!!

greenface, we accepted dogs last year, and whilst i have no problem with dogs myself the hairs were getting everywhere, including my washing machine at home, also the newly laid turf is now covered in dead patches where the !!!!!es have wee'd.
We have no pets ourselves and once stayed in a property with flees, we are now hopeing to appeal to guests like us who would rather stay where dogs have not been.
I know this excludes some guest but as we use the cottage ourselves we would rather it this way.
