Fairy jobmother USA

Well she (Hayley Taylor) came to prominence on Ch4's controversial 'Benefit Busters' in 2009 which focused on (the now disgraced) A4e in the first two episodes where Ms Taylor was employed. In the first episode, she was tasked with getting a group of single mothers into employment. Some found work experience only.
Ms Taylor was lauded and praised by former A4e chairwoman Emma Harrison on the program and was invited to have 'tea with Emma' at Ms Harrison's Derbyshire mansion, Thornbridge Hall.
Fast forward to today and Hayley Taylor now pours scorn on A4e and govt job schemes such as New Deal and the WP. No doubt she can do this as she is making a much better living fronting her own progs and branding herself as 'the fairy jobmother' than she ever could working for A4e. Considering A4e's self inflicted woes, it looks like she jumped ship at the right time.0 -
Bit behind, what happened to A4e? I remember that programme it was good. When hayley was commenting on the house hygiene I did think she should team up with kim&agie and supernanny, do a 'life' help programme!0

The problem with Hayley Taylor is not that she's a bad person. I'm sure she means well in her own way. The issue many have with her is that the 'solutions' she offers are rather one dimensional and simplistic. Many also question her knowledge and experience when tacking difficult issues on behalf of her clients.
For example, on Benefit Busters, she was dealing with a single mother who was £50k (?) in debt to numerous creditors. A fair old sum. However, Taylor was calculating this woman's incomings and out goings on a sheet of A4. Fair enough one may say. One can also say this is what this single mother should have been doing anyway. True. BUT, when dealing with corporate giants such as banks and credit cards companies, you need someone with clout to deal with them on your behalf such as the CCCS, National Debtline or the CAB, not an employment advisor!0 -
Wow! I missed a lot. The programme its self though showed them convincing clients the jobs were going to last then a few weeks later they were no more, i can't say this surprises me. As for Hayley, I do think she tries her best but when it's not as black and white as they are not trying hard enough she does seem a little out her depth. Especially with finacial or personal hurdles.0
