I'm in the process of buying my first house for me and my young son to live in. Mostly I'm just excited for him to have a garden!! After a slow start with Santander taking a millennium to make a mortgage decision I a decision with the Halifax in a matter I days (with no supporting docs required!) the survey was varied out today... What do I do now? Who do I contact to find out the results etc...
There is no chain and the property is vacant. Solicitor has had all the paperwork from the vendors solicitors and the searches were instructed today.
Besides pulling out.... What can go wrong? Is it too early to get excited? I am hoping for a June 1st completion, is this possible?
Thanks

I would be very excited too, as long as everyone is quick with their responses/paperwork you will be in there in no time. Don't be afraid to call your solicitor for updates. There is loads of useful info on here too.
Good luck, hope your son enjoys the summer in his new garden 0 0

Thanks!! Survey was done yesterday and valuation agrees with offer price and I was emailed my mortgage offer today!! Searches are being done with an expected return date of 3rd May. Not sure how they can guess that!!?
Solicitor mentioned a provisional exchange date of 10thMay.
Everything discussed with my landlord to move out when I need to even I'd it is part way through the monb at no extra charge.
Excited but feels like it is moving way too fast now haha!!0

If it was a valuation survey then some lenders arrange for you to be sent a copy. You should receive this within a week if your lender is one that sends out copies to customers.
If you were having your own survey, homebuyer's or structural, then you will probably have to wait longer, perhaps 10 days whilst it's typed up. Mind, with surveyors not as busy as they once were, it shouldn't take that long in the current market.
Hope it comes quickly & everthing goes smoothly for the completion date you want. Exciting times indeed, buying your first house! I do hope it will be all you want it to be, and more! The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0

            Congrats OP:beer:
I am in a very similar position, however a few steps behind you. Had offer accepted on Monday night, am currently filling out mortgage application and sourcing a solicitor and can't wait for my daughters to have a garden this summer. It's soooo hard not to get excited, I am barely sleeping for thinking about everything!!! I just want it all to be done and dusted, so am going to have to learn to have a bit of patience.
.... I wish you all the best with the rest of the process and your actual move to your new home. :j0

my best advice is to phone twice a week to your solicitor at least, just to chase it along and check if there is anything else you need to do as if not, i've found, nothing gets done and everything ends up on the backboiler until you phone again:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one :beer::beer:0 :beer::beer:0

Thanks! My solicitor is my cousin (so handy having a conveyancing solicitor in the family lol) I've been on the phone to her every night this past week, I think she is a bit sick of me 0 0
