I used to be a teacher but through ill health I can no longer go back to my career.
I have been unemployed on jobseekers allowance for 6 months. I have had help from the national careers people with my CV, interview techniques and presentation. I have had a few interviews but always come second. Employers can requested to have a look at your medical records and since I was on the sick before leaving work this may go against me. I have applied for positions such as family outreach worker, children's support worker, employment advisor to name a few. I apply all the time for jobs that are advertised and phone employers up. All I want is a job so I can help support my family.
All I have claimed is jobseekers allowance nothing else but I received a letter saying it is going to stop! I did telephone the number but was told because my husband is working I was not entitled to it. If I do not find a job soon and this money stops we will loose our house and everything. I really need someones constructive advice, as I do not know where to go any more for help.

Unfortunately as your partner works you won't be entitled to jsa anymore.
Have you applied for council tax benefit? Do you own our home or rent?0 -
JSA is paid on a contributary basis for 6 months - as you have just found out. After that you can get income-related benefits if your joint income and savings are low enough. As neither of those options are now available to you, you need to see if your husband is entitled to working tax credits. Between you, you might also be entitled to child credits and/or housing benefit, depending on your circumstances. Try the 'turn 2 us' site to see what you might be able to get. Apart from that, it is a case of cutting spending down as far as possible - various sections of this site will be able to help with this (such as the debt-free and money-saving boards).0
