Halifax Loan PPI

I have a loan with the Halifax which I took out in 2006. I had ppi with this loan but after 6 months realised that I was paying a seperate policy which covered my loan repayment so I rang to cancel the ppi on the loan. Initially an amount of just over £1100 was added to the loan for ppi and was told if I carried on paying the same amount each month this would reduce the term. The loan is due to end this year and I was surprised when I asked for a date of final payment that this had not been reduced by a great deal despite the overpayments. I was sent a statement of account and realised that cancelling the ppi after 6 months I was credited with £500 meaning I had paid over £600 for six months cover. I have written twice now over the last eight weeks asking for a breakdown of how this figure was calculated but I havent received a reply or an acknowledgement that this is being looked at. Just wondering if I should go down the mis selling route or just wait longer for the Halifax to respond to my original request.
