Ask the builders to wind-up the volume on their radio with some nice drum'n'bass while crashing about pulling down the ceiling.

Ask them ? Is that not their default position? ;-P

Thanks everyone..we are the builders lol.. no they wouldnt tell us and got very angry when we got our windows painted saying there's now looked awful so they would have to get it done.. all we heard was his wife screaming throwing a hissy fit :\ if he see's me cleaning my porch he looks out the window and then does his car.. they are very competitive..and if im honest really could do without it. Think this may just tip them over the edge

Just overboard them and skim unless you've got some unique sort of coving or cornicing which would be compromised but you'll wreck it anyway pulling the old ceilings down. The height you'll lose (½" probably) won't be noticeable in 8 feet. Taking down ancient ceilings isn't necessary and a bizarre form of self torture and IMHO, plain barmy. You'll be cleaning for months afterwards if not years.

Overboarding with 9mm board and skimming is no less proper, infinitely quicker and cleaner and cheaper too boot.

Bet you'll be changing your minds just after you've started the first room IMO let alone finishing it. :D

You don't need to remove the ceilings for a rewire - just lift up floorboards.

I concur with Keystone - it's horrible job and there's no way I'd ever do it! You were warned! :)

Also if neighbours are that bad ensure to comply with all council regulations with regard to the skip if on public highway, that way if they complain they are onto a loser.

My partner is a plasterer and is saying no, so i guess it does need to be done.. something i wish didnt have to happen, altho we have some problems in the kitchen so will be good to see whats happening with pipe work etc..
The whole house is stripped back, we have nothing new its a bare shell so it wont get to ruin anything which is a good thing. The fireplace is being knocked out and also the the walls are shot and falling apart..so either way i wont avoid the dust

I'd stick a note through their door. Don't invite them to give an opinion. Just say something like "Dear Neighbour, As a courtesy I'm sending this note to inform you we will be having some internal remodelling work carried out on .......... This work will be undertaken between the hours of ..... and ..... Unfortunately, there may well be some noise during this time but we will endeavour to ensure it is kept to a minimum."
