Primrose Valley is the biggest of the Haven sites and therefore attracts a huge amount of guests. The entertainment and leisure facilities are far better. The beach is excellent here. There is a Sunday car boot on the field nearby about 5 minutes away. Both Scarbrough, Bridlington and Filey are all within 45 minutes of driving.

Blue Dolphin is a quieter site and therefore has less facilties. It caters for the caravanning and tents side and is the best if you are staying as a guest for this. However the swimming facilties are disappointing - the pool is only waist deep (Im 5'7) so you cannot swim properly as its a fun pool. They have since installed a fun slide. The entertainment room is small when at full capacity so finding a seat will be difficult. The beach I dont know as I went at Easter and it was cold to go to.

I havent been to Reighton Sands but I know that it isnt as good as the other 2 parks.

You also cannot use 1 parks passes at the other sites as they will be different colours. When I stayed at Blue Dolphin I tried to use my passes at Primrose and was stopped by security. Its to do with " price issues' as you will find that Primrose is slightly higher.

Edit to say: If I were you Id chose Primrose Valley and if you are situated far from the beach or entertainment just drive near in the car, thats what we did to save a rainy wet trip or tired legs in an evening. Many guests do this as you will see the car parks full.

Hi artichoke. I live in the local area.

Blue Dolphin has no beach access as it is on the top of a very high cliff. . Nearest beach is at Filey or Cayton Bay.

I haven't been to Reighton Sands for years but it is a hill access down to the beach, similar to Primrose Valley but maybe not as long.

Primrose Valley is a BIG site compared to Reighton Sands, the swimming pool complex is supposed to be excellent. Reighton Sands will be quieter I guess so it depends on what you are looking for. The two sites are within 5 mins drive of each other, with Filey 10 mins away and Scarborough Bridlington 20 mins.

If you need any more info on the local area then let me know. Good luck with your choice!:)

    hi

We went to Primrose Valley for 7 nights at Easter (2 newspaper holidays tagged together) so i know the PV site and know the beach access caused a few arguments on the way back up with kids wanting piggy backs etc...

so if the beach access at Reighton Sands is slightly less steep i might consider it as an option.

We want to go back as did not finish exploring the area - went to Whitby abbey but never made it to Scarborough castle..

i know PV is the bigger site but all my kids want is a good pool with activities in it ie slides, flumes, etc and Reighton Sands has the new Lazy River that will keep them happy, and a beach for daytime.

We do go the the entertainment but only stay for the kids ents which i guess is the same at all of them no matter how big or small - especially in summer season...

hum - maybe Haven Thorpe Park as that is flatter beach access..and return to North Yorkshire another time out of season when the beach is less of an issue..

the walk back up the steep slopes with 2 tired crying children wanting piggy backs ruins the whole day so i am trying to avoid steep beach access for the next round of holiday bookings..

We went to Reighton Sands at Easter 2012. The access to the beach is down a very very steep hill. The swimming pool though was spotless, just refurbished, staff constantly clean the cubicle area, showers, eetc. The pool is quite shallow, but good for younger kids learning to swim.

Havent been to Reighton Sands for a couple of years but they did used to run a land train up and down to the beach. Might be worth ringing them and finding out if this is still running.

The walk to the beach at Reighton is steep, but nowhere near as far as Primrose Valley.

No beach access from Blue Dolphin as others have said.

hum - how shallow is the pool at Reighton sands?

arghg - it is always so hard to choose....

anyway we have chosen Haven Thorpe park now- lazy river, space bowl flume, and the pool looks ok - plus flatter beach access.

I'm 5ft3 (163 cm) and was able to walk at the deep end in the pool at Reighton Sands, just to give you an idea ...
