Im as much a fan of OEM as the next bloke, but with Vista the OEM editions are being "tied" to the motherboard they are installed with.
Change your PC / motherboard, and it will flag it as an illegal copy.
Well you can call MS and say your motherboard died and they will give you a reactivation. I haven't heard of anyone not being able to do this.My policies are based not on some economics theory, but on things I and millions like me were brought up with: an honest day's work for an honest day's pay; live within your means; put by a nest egg for a rainy day; pay your bills on time; support the police - Margaret Thatcher.0 -

Plus WHY exactly do you want Vista?
Its a nightmare with things not working.
Have you tried the upgrade advisor from microsoft first?
if not, download it and see what will and won't work if you install vista.
Personally I'd be leaving it till its more stable.
and I work in a PC shop and I've been talking customers out of buying or upgrading it since it came out and we've had cheap branded PCs from the likes of Currys brought in for repair cos something doesnt work or they crash constantly and Currys say its down to Vista and not covered by the warranty.
Exactly what i have been saying to people.. i'm not touching it until i know everything is compatible with it (drivers/software/hardware etc) and all bugs are ironed out.Lost lbs =

Yep, you can only have it installed on one machine at any time.

good job i downloaded 2 cracked versions of it then, 1 for each machine0 -
Ouch! You shouldnt be admitting to Software piracy on here!!!
Anyways the PC from Currys we did a total system restore on Vista as IE7 wouldnt show any webpages, just a blank screen.
it worked fine when it left the shop, it came back in again this morning for the same repair.
Currys say its down to Vista and won't touch it.
its cos the poor family £25.00 from us already for a system restore.
out of good faith we've decided not to charge them anything extra for what we may have to do to it today.
VISTA?
good if you machine is powerful enough to run it and you don't intend doing much with it YET!:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -
i have been wanting to format my current advent pc for quite a while due to a few minor problems, i considered upgrading to vista at the same time, then realised i needed more ram/memory so was going to upgrade that at the same time aswell - the cost of this would have been approx £200
it ended up being more sensible to buy a new computer with vista premium included. i have purchased a dell pc for £525 including a 20" monitor worth £270. the price included £50 off, free shipping worth £60 and a free upgrade from vista basic to home premium.
i also had £50 off with quidco cashback which will bring the cost down to £475, less the £270 monitor is £205 for the computer which includes windows vista premium and the 1gb ram which would have cost me £200+
and i get a brand new computer, with 12 months manufacturers warranty and my OH gets a 20" monitor to play his xbox 360 on
we also think we can sell our advent computer for approx £200 and our packard bell 19" monitor for approx £120-£1500 -
is your monitor the old style CRT one?
if it is you'll be very lucky to get that much. we sell used 17" CRTs at £25.
You'd be better selling the whole lot together.
Always best to wipe the system first too!:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -

the packard bell 19" is a flat screen
will format our advent pc before we sell it
i think we would get more money selling the computer and monitor separately0 -
a 2nd hand 19" TFT?
hmm depends on how old it is. is it still under warranty?
but we sell new 19" TFTs for less than £130 so ya gotta think about whats being offered for sale as opposed to what you can get new for a similar price.
You might be being a little optimistic, but I hope you get your prices.
Whats the PC system running, spec wise?
Ebay might be a good way to go.
Especially for selling seperately cos you might get the same person bidding on both to make a complete system:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0
