I have a friend bringing me copy from US next week, where it is $140 - around £85!
Here we are again in rip-off Britain - Vista the same price in £s here as it is in $ in US - nuts!!!0 -
Check out thee OEM version from eBuyer:
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/123052/rb/25800976387
£71.01 with Free Delivery, OEM is exactly the same as you would get with the regular packs except without the fancy (pointless) packaging.SLC: £13000+
Quidco: £131.24 (paid) + £0 (validated) = £131.24
Valued Opinions: £75 (paid) + £52.30 (received) + £4.50 (pending) = £131.80
StudentPanel: £250 -

Im as much a fan of OEM as the next bloke, but with Vista the OEM editions are being "tied" to the motherboard they are installed with.
Change your PC / motherboard, and it will flag it as an illegal copy."Getting Married" - The act of betting half of everything you own on the fact you will love someone forever :rotfl:0 -
Very true Sniperpenguin.
Plus WHY exactly do you want Vista?
Its a nightmare with things not working.
Have you tried the upgrade advisor from microsoft first?
if not, download it and see what will and won't work if you install vista.
Personally I'd be leaving it till its more stable.
and I work in a PC shop and I've been talking customers out of buying or upgrading it since it came out and we've had cheap branded PCs from the likes of Currys brought in for repair cos something doesnt work or they crash constantly and Currys say its down to Vista and not covered by the warranty.:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -
can i buy a US version and use it ok over here in the UK without any probs? as am going to the states next month. Are there any drawbacks to buying a US version over the UK version? Or is in exactly the same.
Many thanks in advance

Plus OEM versions are 32bit or 64bit ONLY - not both in the same package as with the upgrade/ retail editions...Wins so far this year: It's been a quiet year so far0 -

wow thats great, I didnt realise everything was the same and hat there wasnt any downsides to buying it from the US. I thought Microsoft would have that covered. Like sony do with the US PS3's etc.
thanks very much!
