The way it's laid out isn't like a traditional shared drive.

My brother has a shared drive and has been blocked in before by an annoying Parker.

With ours, the entrance is large and little possibility of being blokcked in because of the arrangement.

We started thinking about the parking at the rear again. It's getting used to the difference. We are due to exchange and move in soon, so it's running through are minds more. House is perfect, rear parking fine with big divides and walls between 2 other neighbours. But real shame it isn't out front, next to the house.

Would it lower the cost too?

Definately wouldnt be a problem for me. Ive never lived in a house where the parking was at the back - at the min i have no off street parking so often have to lug my shopping down the street!!

But growing up, our driveway went all the way down the side of the house and we only ever used the back door!!

Are these "double doors" the only access at the rear? Are they patio doors or French doors?

The only problem I can see is that these double doors can be a weak point security-wise, and some insurance companies might require you to fit additional locks, which generally cannot be opened from outside.

They are double glazed patio doors on the kitchen and some more on the living room and a single door on the utility.

Don't these have multi point locks already?

Some do, some don't. If there is an ordinary door into the utility room then this would be the one to use as the rear entrance IMO.

Then there would be no problem if the patio door has/needs additional locks.
