If she's got a 'thing' about Skype (and I personally didn't get on with it, reception not usually good enough) but she has broadband, then try Jajah. You don't need a special phone, can use it through your mobile or your landline (although mobile costs money!)Signature removed for peace of mind0

tormilind - the grant is substantial. I was living in Copenhagen which is horrifically expensive, it still put a large dent in my expenses. Just about paid for all my housing costs. The grant is of course pro rata, so you'd get more for going for the year - expect about double that.
PS - cost of living in Germany is actually fairly good. We used to catch the bus to Berlin at the weekends so we could afford to go out !0 -
As an alternative to Skype, you can just use normal MSN Messenger with a microphone and a webcam!0
