Freeview problems...and Sky dish

Husband has bought a new tv for the bedroom and it has built in freeview. The Sky lead is now connected to the new tv and Sky channel is now on 902. The problem is ITV1 , Channel4 and a number of others keep breaking up. Are the freeview pictures coming from the built in freeview or via the Sky lead ? Should we get an aerial as well ?

Bit of backgroud info.....

The bedroom tv is connected to the tv downstairs which has sky+, no sky multi room hence the new tv ( so I can watch something else !). We don't, and never have had, a roof aerial. Used to have a super analogue picture with just the small loop on the back of the tv. :)

You can't receive Freeview unless you have an aerial (it's a terrestial service), so any channels you are receiving are via Sky.
If you want to watch something different upstairs then you either need Multiroom, or a separate platform such as Freeview or Freesat-the former of which will require an aerial.
Assuming that you already have a quad LNB, the cheapest option might be to run another feed from the LNB and use that with any old Sky box (free or near free) to get Freesat From Sky.

    Thanks Macman

I don't want to go to the bother of extra cables through the house. I was hoping that an indoor aerial might do the trick.

I have a number of channels working just fine so I'm happy enough with that. Still better off than I was before as we can still view different channels upstairs than downstairs ( just not so much choice upstairs but not to worry )

An indoor aerial rarely works well with digital TV, it depends on the transmitter and signal.
You don't need extra cabling 'through the house', you just need a single extra feed from the dish, which is probably at first floor level already?
