Isabel Tyler

I live in a house which is split into two flats and own the freehold with the owner of the other flat. We have always insured the building together and have had no trouble apart from the fact that we have to pay higher premiums because the house was underpinned 27 years ago. We are insured with \axa and last years premium was £900 they have just informed us with three weeks to renewal that next premium will be £3,200. Have been with them over 12 years and no claims. They will not budge and gi ve no explanation other than we are high risk clay soil area but this is nonsense because putting the postcode in without the underpinning gives a very low quote indeed. Have contacted other insurers and they are not interested because of the previous underpinning. Any ideas welcolmed.
