Barclays online banking problem?

Options
Just before the new look Barclays online banking, I set up a regular transfer between a personal and a joint account.

Now, you only seem to get an immediate or single future date transfer with no options for setting up regular transfers between Barclays accounts

I looked at the FAQs and got: If you would like to set up regular transfers between your accounts or to a beneficiary, find out more by reading our FAQ on How do I set up a standing order in Online Banking or How do I set up Direct Debits and standing orders?

So I started to set up a SO for this regular transfer only to get a screen saying "Please use the transfer option for this action"!

Tried again, but the regular transfer option has disappeared for me. Looking at my account the original regular transfer is listed..as a standing order!?

Any advice welcomed.

TIA

Vigman

PS ..and yes I know I could amend the original transfer to add on the second transfer amount, but I want the two sums showing separately!

  • The website seems full of issues since the launch.

I have been trying to email them via it for two days now and the contact us email goes around in a big circle and never lets you send an email.

This drove me to the complaints email form which when you fill it all out and send it always comes up with 'Barclays online banking is currently unavailable.'

    Its very poor.

  • I received a comment from them today to say they are aware their contact forms don't work and are investigating(?)

Sorry I can't help with the transfer issue.
  • I was trying to send a query to Barclays about the account names on my "homepage" screen:
    Hello,
Is there any way for me to rename, or set a familiar name for, my accounts on the online banking screen?

I have five accounts (Current, Savings, ISAs etc) which all show up as "MY FULL NAME" on the homepage screen.
This makes it very difficult to transfer money between accounts, because I don't know which account is which!! In the to/from dropdown boxes I have five choices all exactly the same.
Is there a way that I can make my current account show up as "Current account", savings as "Savings" etc?

    Thanks!

But whenever I hit submit, I get "Error 5 - Online banking is currently unavailable".
It isn't - online banking itself works [STRIKE]perfectly well[/STRIKE] as well as it usually does.
At first I thought it was the quote marks that were breaking it (I bloody well hope not, on a banking site) so I tried without those, but no luck.. :(

So it looks like they've had at least three weeks to fix the previous poster's issue and not got round to it.
Probably because they sacked all their IT staff.

This has got to be the worst online banking site I have ever seen! What on earth are they smoking?

Incidentally, does anyone here know the answer to my above query?

    Cheers.

    .

    Yes.
Look in the title bar of an account - there's a button at the righthand end labelled 'EDIT' - guess what it does?
We had this two weeks ago, somebody else banging on about how bad the system was and hadn't bothered to actually look at the screen !

  • Cheers David. Hard to see that blue-on-blue button.. ;)

I'm surprised that their much-boasted-about "intelligent" FAQ thing that they force you through doesn't know about things like that though..

Next issue (once you work out how to submit changes - the "edit" button changes to "cancel" and there is no "save" - you have to hit the enter key) is that the default account name is longer than the maximum 15 character length, so it won't let me change any of them unless I change all of them, but I don't know which is which for all of them yet so I have to give them names like account 1,2,3 while I work out what they are.

    Great UI experience!! :T

not sure what you're doing there - I just checked mine and the account name field is 25 characters long. All mine have been customised for so long I can't remember what the default names were but I'm sure they weren't that long.
