payment into bank account

Im expecting a payment to reach my bank account on wednesday or thursday. is it possible to check that it is in the system and heading to my account, or do i simply have to wait. Only asking cos i am planning my bill payments. i bank with nationwide. thanks in advance.

    My bank has access to BACS payment details the day before, so they can tell me exactly what I'm going to be paid 1 working day before it hits my account. HTH

    Most payments these days arrive within a few hours of being sent. If you are due to receive a payment on Thursday it may not start its journey until Thursday.

    My bank has been able to tell me in the past. Obviously not with faster payments though.

    As a previous poster says (and they possibly refer to FD?), 'some' banks (although they're by far in the minority in my experience) may be able to tell you the day before it's due to be paid...but only for BACS Direct Credits are far as I'm aware.

    you'll see it on your online account the moment it hits the account. Don't think it's traceable beforehand.
    You won't be able to spend against it online until the funds are cleared, but you can write cheques of course.
