How much to repair underground water pipe leak?

Hi all
It looks like my OH has a leak in the pipe between the street and the back of the house, which is slowly going green & black.
The pipe is under the path, which is probably about 40ft long.
It looks like the leak is under one of the steps, which is holding the most water. The water is running down the path and hitting the back of the house, which is compounded as the back of the house is below the level of the path.
Has anyone experienced anything similar & how much did it cost to fix?
I would be grateful if any pros in this game could also give me an idea of what's involved to fix it & a guess at costs.
Many thanks.

check with your water company first, as some offer to repair a one off leak like this for free.0

How long is a piece of string? I can't imagine anyone wanting to give a fixed price to do this, as there are some many variables which may occur. First thing to do is check your buildings insurance, it may be covered in which case give the problem to your insurer (and cough up the £50 excess or whatever).
Otherwise, get several quotes and get the details of what is included and what isn't, in the price. You may well end up paying an hourly rate for however long it takes.A house isn't a home without a cat.

I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.
