Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker Xmas Saver!
SpirallingDown- My mum works for TV licensing. She used to do private licenses (homes). They do carry one of those hand held devices. They have lists of addresses downloaded onto it which don't currently have a license. They normally turn up to empty houses, so you were just unfortunate they turned up so soon after moving in.
My mum used to ask if she could have a look to see if there was a TV, but she said if it was obvious that they had just moved in she didn't bother.
With regards to the bloke with the attitude problem its because if he had signed you up for a TV license there and then he would have got a "bonus".

Thanks for that, I just wasn't too sure if he was genuine but then I miss trust anyone who may be after my bank details so refuse point blank to give any info out and go get the number on line and ring them to double check, even then I only give the info online or using the number I've found.

I offered to let the guy look for himself as I'd nothing to hide but he refused.

Is the following wording in an ad likely to put people off?

"No timewasters, no asking if I can deliver because your only 5 minutes from town when you quite clearly aren't. Especially if your going to change your mind when I ask if you can meet me at the end of your street. If I'm going miles out of my way the least you can do is walk 100 yards to the end of your road."
