Care Allowance and work?

Hi
I am currently only claiming care allowance when my daughter is home during the holidays. She receives border payments DLA for that time. I have to take unpaid leave for those times, dropping from 24 hrs to 12 hrs a week which I negotiated with my employer under the new flexible working rules. I am now not able to get care allowance because I get paid 4 weekly and the pay for the whole period is averaged out and takes me over the £100 per week allowance for claiming even though I only claim for 1 or two weeks. They tell me that if I get paid weekly, it wouldn't be an issue. Is it me or does this seem completely unfair and ludicrous????:mad:Has anybody fought this decision before and can give me advice???
I am considering seeing my MP,because what is the point in having flexible working to suit carers and then basing the decision on an antiquated system?
Any help would be appreciated
