in Credit cards
hi
i was just wondering i got rejected from a credit card because i do not have any credit history, i was wondering if it would be better to get a store card and buy things through that or try a different credit card, i need to build up credit but i am unsure what is the best way to do it.
thanks

Store card.
Sub-prime credit card, Vanquis etc
Mobile phone contract.
Any of those will help but remember the cards are only to be used for your normal spends, not to borrow on for luxuries, and to be paid off in full every statement. Some store cards will offer freebies for signing up, can be a bonus if used correctly.
Are you on the electoral register ?0 -
If you go for a store card, I would avoid signing up for one thats administered by Santander Cards (that's Debenhams, Top Shop, Burtons, Dorothy Perkins and much more of the UK store card market I'm afraid).
They have absolutely abysmal customer service and often make basic errors that could end up with you having a worse credit history than before because (for example) they 'lose' a payment you make to your account or they don't send a statement/send it very late and you end up making a late payment. See these reviews for the Debenhams card if you don't believe me! http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews84410.html
I'm sure not everyone has experienced this with Santander run store cards but I honestly don't think it's worth the risk!0
