Help needed urgently

Hello people I need your help urgently

ok this is the story in 2005 with my ex wife she arranged for a company called nemo personal finance to give us a loan. However her loan application was refused and Nemo and her placed great pressure on me to take out this loan with constant calls etc.

in 2006 i took a loan out for £20000 to pay off new wifes debits and a few improvements such as windows to house. In 2006 late i had a very serious motorcycle crash and was fighting for my life. whilst in intensive care ex wife clean me out run off with car money everything. I contact nemo and they were not helpful at all. I decided to put the house on the market at the time to pay off mortgage and 98% of nemo loan. Nemo informed me that they wont give me an answer to paying them off untill the exchange of contract stage. I informed the buyer who then decided to pull out.

since this date the house is now fallen into negative exquity thanks to nemo and i have been forced to move out and rent a house. However i am now paying for two homes that i cant afford. Halifax wont let me rent the house and nemo wont let me pay them off as this was my plan (please bear with me here)

I have payed off so far £15000 to nemo and asked for a settlement recently to be told that i owe 24000 i am very upset and asked where this extra money has been added and they said i had a PPI i have tryed to reclaim this and they refuse to credit me back.

Halifax will lend me £20000 over 7 years to pay nemo off but nemo will not accept it they want the full 24000 so that would be a total of 39000 on a 20000 loan.

I need your help as i am now very ill and just want to top myself off as i am so worried please will someone help me please

Ps PPI was forced upon me as it was the condition of the loan. I dont know what to do i cant take this anymore

you sound at a very low ebb hon and I would suggest getting someone who can help you deal with this company would be a good idea. Have you been in touch with any of the debt charities?

They cannot have what you do not have. There will be a way to fix it, it is only money.

If you need to talk to someone now, the Samaritans are always there. Then payplan in the morning.

  • Hello, Practitioner36,
I just wanted to give you some support as you sound so desperate. I'm not an expert but if it was me, I'd speak to Citizen's Advice first. I would think that an option for you would be to consider declaring yourself bankrupt. But there may be other less drastic options, so please speak to CAB. Honestly, it can be sorted.

what job do you do? only a very small number of professions debarr bankrupts. It may not be an issue. There is a very friendly brankruptcy baord full of people who have been through it, come out the other side, andbeen discharged just 12 months later, so it is all possible. Some have changed jobs but not many.

I am sure your family are suffering more by your being stressed and don't care about the money as much as you think they do.

There WILL be options. There are always options. And having someone to deal with this company on your behalf, to take the strain away from you, is one of them. That is what the debt charities can help with. So even if you do a debt management plan, or a reduced payment plan, and move into a rental, you still have enough to live on.

There is a whole forum dedicated solely to Bankrupts

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=136

It IS only money, a friend (of a friend) of mine went Bankrupt for £16k, she followed her sister who went BR for just over £20k.

They are both happy, debt isn't the end of the road, there are thousands the same as you and thousands worse off than you. Stay positive.

Here's an example on the BR board I linked earlier
I wont bore you with how I got in to debt and why but I owe approximately £96000. Potentially it could be more than this as there might be something I have forgotten.
See if you can find it on the first page. There are many much worse off but getting though it.

I'm not sure which Government arm are going to show you the door is you go BR, I know a few ex BR worker in Government work.
If you are in the Forces you can't, but there are mechanisms to help you deal with debt.

    Good luck
  • i wish there was someone who could take on my case with nemo PLEASE is there such a person as i have lost my energy and really can be positive even though i am trying to be
