5p eBay Free Postage listing day 7th March *merged*

Another cheap listing day, yay! Free gallery too, but you have to offer free UK postage to take advantage of the offer.

So that means that you have to add the postage costs to the selling price somehow(or lose them) and then ebay get f/l fee on the lot. dosn't seem a good deal if its a reasonably valuable item. Or have I misunderstood this?
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

If selling lowish value items, postage costs will have to be incorporated into the item price, and therefore a lot of potential buyers might think it's too expensive and not bid. Also, the final value fee will be higher in this case.
I haven't done precise calculations, but I think I'll be no better off, and possibly worse off if I list items under this offer.

Put collection in person as the free delivery. I have seen loads of people do it. I know it is off putting sometimes, but its money saving eh!

that could cause a few problems, especially with last minute bidders

when someone searches they will see your item price with free postage and may just bid without realising that free postage is for collection only

    dont think you can...
    What's Included?
Sellers that list an item on eBay.co.uk in pounds sterling (GBP) and who offer a free UK postage option (i.e. free delivery to any UK address) as their first postage option when listing their item will qualify for the promotion
In the domestic postage section: sellers must select the 'Flat: same cost to all buyers' option.
In the Postal Service section: sellers must select any postal service apart from the 'collection in person' option and sellers must also enter '0' into the first '£' field. A "Free postage" tick box may appear when the new SYI form is used, ticking this box automatically sets the first postage option to zero. Please note: if the seller selects the first hyphen postal service option (i.e. '-') in the SYI form, the seller must indicate in their listing what postal service they will offer the buyer. Remember that this cannot be 'collection in person'.In the Insurance section: sellers must not require insurance and the cost of insurance must be set to zero.
Post-to-location: sellers must select the: 'Will post to UK...' option and need to ensure that they have not selected the: 'Will not post - local pick-up only' option.

Since the postage price is normally shown with each item in search results etc, most customers will see "free" postage and realise that, for instance, £7.99 with "free" postage is equivalent to £4.99 with £3 p&p. The downside is that, as you mention, the FVF will be higher when the postage is incorporated into the purchase price. It could still be a good moneysaver with items which are cheap to post, especially if you would normally use Gallery (usually 15p extra) and/or list in 2 categories (which would usually double the listing fees, including Gallery if applicable).

This is a good offer for anyone selling leaflet type items, or vouchers (obviously those that are allowed) as the free postage can cost as little as a scond class stamp.

For us it is a good offer, with around 3000 different size, style, colour items in stock at any one time I do not use the auction or fixed prices options as it would cost me a fortune - average listing price would be 60p each so for us we just have to put up with having little sales these days. the cheap listing days give me the chance to get some items listed on the main pages for a change - all I do is cancel the SIF listings, download them all through TL and put the prices up slightly and change the postage options (I only charge £1.50 - £2.00 for postage anyway) but for some items it would not be worthwhile, for us however it is as it gets people looking in our shop for a change. Hurrah!! Our sales usually treble on the cheap days and we make enough to pay our listing fees on the first day - to earn the same amount these days usually takes a week if listing just in the shop so, for us, it works.

Can you relist an item that was first placed on the promo and would you have to offer free postage again in the relist?
