The interest rate used to calculate the prize fund has not kept pace with the BOE base rate changes, can the following be explained.
1st Sept 2006 3.5%
1st Dec 2006 3.55%
1 st Jan 2007 3.4%
1 st Feb 3.60%
I feel that we are being taken for a ride,do the government pluck these figures from thin air are they related to any stats. The chance of winning remains at 24000 to 1.
What do they actually do with the revenue that this scheme generates?

They give it to Gordon Brown to spend - it is part of the government's borrowing mechanism. Oh, and I expect some of it goes to Siemens, to whom a lot of work has been " out-sourced ". More in the NS&I " Framework Document ".0

What's wrong with outsourcing? You may not be aware that most businesses outsource in order to get efficiency savings, are you saying that, per se, it is a bad thing for government departments?0

There is absolutely no need to be so confrontational. I stated a fact, no opinion was implied.0

I agree why the attitude? Please allow others to express facts and opinions.cheerfulcat wrote:There is absolutely no need to be so confrontational. I stated a fact, no opinion was implied. To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -

I would be very happy to give you chapter and verse about outsourcing. I absolutely loathe it - to me it often means call centres, often to a foreign land, almost certainly to an accent I cannot understand very easily (Glasgow/Liverpool for a start - sorry guys). It results in a lot of wasted time, repeating your story time and again. People just relying on their computer screens and not being able to move a point forward. Oh, I could go on and on, but it's people who cannot take responsibility for their actions: nameless, faceless, shameless people! I reckon that in 10 years, Companies will be trying to regain business, they will employ expensive Consultants, who will cost a fortune to tell people to insource their switchboards, IT help, etc.0 -
Colloquialism is an important factor and should be encouraged ,perhaps your local accent might be difficult for other from outside your region or village to understand.Jennifer_Jane wrote:I would be very happy to give you chapter and verse about outsourcing. Why should colloquialism be encouraged? Am interested to hear further on this? And if I were working in a call centre, I think it should be expected of me to have an easy-to-understand accent.kenshaz wrote:Colloquialism is an important factor and should be encouraged ,perhaps your local accent might be difficult for other from outside your region or village to understand.
Please don't get hung up on what was a single comment amongst others in my loathing of outsourcing/call centres.0 -
Why should your accent be more understandable than others? To be happy you need to make someone happy.0

Because you should always retain your own individuality and be proud of where you come from, why should one regions accent be more correct than another.Jennifer_Jane wrote:Why should colloquialism be encouraged? I use RBS telephone banking and I always use Scottish centres in preference .
Do you consider southern accents to be more understandable? To be happy you need to make someone happy.0
