I would like to purchase a DVD recorder, preferably with a hard drive and to be able to play DIVX format DVDs + others.I know that they are not cheap, so I am looking to spend arround £300. Can somebody give me some advise from their experiences. Thanks in advance.

I purchased an Eltax machine just before Christmas for my mum for around £193. It has 250GB hard drive, has Divx playback and has a USB input and i think its a really good machine. Easy to setup with Timeslip.
I think you can still purchase them off either Bidup or Pricedrop TV (where i got mine from) and will probably be cheaper now.
If you already have an account with the Situp group then i find its best to buy online while the auction is ongoing then you save the price of the phone call.

I have a samsung DVD-R125 which is no longer made, I think the new model is the Samsung DVD-R135. The R125 cost me £199 and has been OK, there was an known issue it got repaired for, but new models are OK. I wanted this model as it is has HDMI output too.

Edit: Just found the DVD-R135 for £158 delivered

You should get a lot of machine for £300, I would point you this specialist AV Forum where you will find people who have used all sorts of machines.
