Hi folks. I have signed up for sky anytime plus but i need to connect remotely (i think). My modem is in another room to the tv and sky box. I dont have a telephone line next to my sky box and tv.
My question is does my modem have to be plugged into a telephone line for it to work ? if not can i just place my modem next to my sky box and tv and connect with an ethernet cable ?

Anytime plus is a Video on demand service that gets its content over the internet.
Your modem/router has to be on-line for it to work.
If you cannot co locate your modem and Sky box you either need a long Ethernet cable, a Sky Wireless Connector (£60), or a pair of powerline homeplugs.

My modem is in a different room on a different floor to the Sky box. A pair of home plugs work perfectly. The modem has to be active i.e you are using your internet subscription to download to your skybox.0

Make sure however that your ISP download quota is enough if you intend to use Anytime Plus a lot.The average programme is 500MB & these are downloaded to your Sky+ HD box,so if you have a 10GB limit (for example) you'd reach that quite quickly.0

Our PC & modem are upstairs while our TV & SKY HD box are downstairs. We opted to buy SKY wireless connector for £60.00 & we're really pleased with it. Sits neatly on top of SKY box and works perfectly.0
