She has looked after her mum for many years she was getting the carers allowance as well as 50 pound from small earnings per wee approx 8 hours as a cleaner.

her mother dies

she has been getting income support for two months but has to make a new claim in may she doesnt understand why.

will she get income support and not have to sign and be allowed to declare her under 16 hours pw job with limited income and not sign on or provide any evicdence, dWp say can but i think they are worng#
she does the cleaning job cash in hand or self employed.

i think she will get jsa (IB )and her earnings will be offset her work, but would she will need to sign and show she has attempted to find more earnings/ work

It sounds like shes been getting the IS as a carer, if so this carries on for 8weeks after the person cared for dies.

from what you've said I cant see any conditions of entitlement to IS now & so it would be JSA or ESA depending on those health issues. And yes, the earnings taken off.

Addressing her current state - not whatever it may have been.
She does not qualify for IS. (she was getting this due to her caring responsibility) Following the death of the cared-for person, there is an 8 week run-on, and then no entitlement.

She cannot make a new claim for incapacity benefit. (IB)
She can - if her health conditions (what are they?) are serious enough to pass the required tests - make a claim for employment and support allowance.

She can of course claim JSA - though she would be expected to be looking for work, if she is doing only 8 hours a week.

She should probably claim Housing and council-tax benefit on grounds of low income at the moment while getting those sorted.
