Barclaycard balance transfer - strange error

Hi people,
I'm trying to do a balance transfer online to my barclaycard. Every time I enter the amount I want to transfer and select next, the amount I'm allowed to transfer changes and I get the following error:
"You should enter a transfer amount that is with in the range we've shown."
e.g. The text says "you can transfer any amount from £100.00 to £1000.00"
I enter £500.00 and press next,
I get the error and the text changes to:
"You can transfer any amount from £100.00 to £250.00".
If I try again with a smaller amount it changes again to an even smaller number. It's like it's playing games with me! Has anyone else experienced this? The amount I'm trying to transfer is a lot less than the limit of my card by the way...

Was there any answer to this? I tried to do a similar thing - on screen it told me I could transfer up to a certain limit, but when I tried to do the actual transfer it said that I couldn't do it, and showed a much lower limit. I cancelled the request and now it is showing the original limit again.0

Just in case it helps anyone else - there were two problems.
One was that the account was set to pay the whole balance by direct debit, so I had to change that to pay a minimum/fixed amount.
The other problem was - I think - that I was trying to transfer from a Nationwide Select card which were only set up last autumn, and Barclaycard don't seem to have updated their systems (six months later!) to recognise the card numbers. Everything went through OK when the transfer was done over the phone.0
