eBay payment

Options
How long should you give people to pay for an item you have sold before you contact them querying why they haven't paid?

I have sent them an invoice through eBay.

I sold one on Friday and another last night so it's still early but every item I have sold before people have paid up almost straight away.

It may be that they haven't had access to a computer, I'd perhaps leave it until Wednesday and send them the invoice again. In future you could put a note on your auction listing saying 'payment within xx days after auction end'.

Hi I have had this happen a few times, I usually send the invoice on the day of winning my item and then after 4 days if I dont receive payment send a message asking if they still want the item, I usally add something like I am happy to wait for payment but could you please advise, I then give them 24 hours and if I still dont receive payment then I open a case, get my fees back and re list, hth

I never query why they haven't paid.
They'll get an ebay, you've won email. ebay also sends a reminder to pay, so along with the invoice you've sent, they've been told 3 times they won & need to pay.
After 4 days open an NPB, if they still don't pay close it 4 days later.
  • I expect some folks may bid, forget about it and go away not expecting to 'win' and some may suffer from broken net issues. Either way a week would seem a reasonable time lapse to me.

Yeah I usually put the must pay immediately if using buy it now, but I did these listing on my iPad for the first time and it's different to the web browser version so forgot or missed the place to do that.

    Thanks everybody

I'm pretty sure its after 3 days you can open a case. I have had trouble with non players so I put on my listings now to pay within 3 days of it ending then I cover myself should I need to open a case.

It's 4 days & you can close 4 days after. To the exact minute, not a moment before.
I've set mine up to open & close automatically. So much easier.

Is it 4 days or 4 Business days? as its been 2 business days, but 4 days on one I believe and 2-3days on the other

Oh and how do you set it up to automatically do it for you?

ebay recommends that you talk to the buyer if they don't pay. Sometimes they have problems with a computer or family problems that take priority. I usually send an invoice with a note. If they don't respond I tell them that I will have to open a case against them so that I don't get charged by ebay for the sale. This usually produces a payment. I've had to wait over a week before now. Most people pay within a few days but there are always some that don't pay up for a while or not at all.

    Continuation

One ebay'er is no saying he doesn't require the item and says the reason is that he put a bid on mine, forgot he had done and then purchased a similar item elsewhere and is now asking for me to withdraw his bid.

Which I can not do now as the auction has ended

To me it's not a very good excuse for not payment.

Should I try and get him to pay by saying something along the lines of - I'm sorry I can't withdraw your bid as the auction has end so it would be better for you to pay for this item rather than me open up a case for non payment to get my fees back which would/could effect your purchasing on eBay in the future.

Maybe suggest he buys them and then offers them to his cricket mates?
