Vanquis "minimum payment" doesnt include charges

I wold like a little help with this please. I have a Direct Debit set up to collect the minimum payment from my Vanquis card, which it does each month without fail. Unfortunately I went over my limit and was charged £12. No problemI thought as I had the DD set up to collect minimum payment.
But not according to Vanquis who are insisting that I set up another DD to collect any charges they add to my account. Surely the minimum should mean the minimum required to bring my account upto date including any charges?
Help please!! With their charges I now owe hundreds as I keep insisting that the minimum should be collected through my current DD

So rather than making an extra payment to cover your charges you dug your heals in and did not set up the extra payment leaving you owing more money in charges?Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

The word minimum means to me that this would be the smallest amount required to be paid in order to avoid charges.0

As the Credit card company are not by definition taking the minimum they require to avoid a charge this is not the minimum0

Ok not very constructive, guess this isnt the place for information as to whether they are correct or just trying to squeeze more money out of the little people.
Btw, if people dont speak up against things they see as wrong (whether they are or not) then nothing ever changes and those fat cats just get fatter.
Again, thank you for your "input"0 -
why do you need a DD for anything but the minimum?
we are talking what £10 for the minimum payment?
pay the charges direct
I assume you don't plan on making it a monthly thing?0 -
I see people here are being helpful as usual
OP: phone Vanquis and get the thing sorted out before it escalates out of control. Standing up for your principles won't stop the CC company charging you more and more
It is not really a good idea with the Vanquis card to only do minimum payments. Should only be treated as a credit builder.
Get it sorted NOW before you are potless.
Mind your pitchforks on the way out folks... :TOh, you wee bazza!0 -
I do not think anyone here would not agree you should stand up for things that are clearly wrong. The difference is there are terms and conditions you agreed to here.
Surely it would have been better to cover the charges and then complain and complain to get the first lot of charges back on the ground the payment should have covered them.

The situation seems to have been going on for a while.
If the charges have mounted up to "hundreds" I suspect the OP is either a troll or extremely stupid.
Take your pick.
It's not the point - the way some people conduct themselves on here is absolutely alarming and totally takes the !!!!, but that's what total lack of moderation will bring.
I'd like to see how some of the people here spoke to their boss... not like they do here I suspectOh, you wee bazza!0 -

If my boss was doing the financial equivalent of walking into a door over and over and then complaining their head hurt rather than opening the door I think I would be justified talking to them like an idiot. In fact they would thank me for it.Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid
