Misleading retail practises at Rohan

Went to Rohan to buy a pair of trousers and a shirt this weekend. A display of trousers attracted me with signs “Mid season clearance, save £12”.
I spend some time in the shop as they had to find the right size and first brought the wrong design. I had them go back to find the right colour in the design that had the £12 reduction advertised. When paying it turned out that the reduction only applied to the (out of season) dark wine colour.
I took the sales guy to the display to explain that their promotion was misleading, as they put the discounted items at the front, without stating that the discount applies only to one colour. The sales guy stated that it actually was Rohan’s company policy and that he disliked it, too. I then noticed that many racks had such discounted items at the front, rather than displaying the discounts in one area.

As I had spent a lot of time in the shop I bought the trousers in the end and I will email Rohan to try to find out what they have to say about this practise and I will report back if I get a response from Rohan.
Have you had any similar experience and what do you think of this practise?

That's a bit sneaky... I don't think that's right, if there is no labelling saying which one it applies to, how are you supposed to know??Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

A representative from "Rohan Travel Unlimited" (01908 517900) called me today, apologising for the disappointment, promising to send a cheque for the £12 difference. I consider this a fair resolution and I hope their store will make it the limitations of their offers clearer in future.0

As promissed, here the response:
========== EMAIL ==========
Many thanks for your email which has been passed to me.
I was very concerned to hear that you felt you had been misled by our signage. Here at Rohan we are extremely keen on being open, honest and clear in all our dealings with our customers. The bond of trust we have built up with the majority of our customers is extremely valuable and comes from a genuine belief that this is the only way to do business.
I was even more concerned to hear that one of our sales team described what you felt to be misleading signage as “company policy”.
It absolutely is not.
What I will do now is to review with our Retail Director how the signage that I generate is actually used. And learn from your experience so that there is no scope to potentially mislead anyone in the future.
Many thanks again for getting in touch with us on this and for your interest in Rohan.
With best wishes,
Tim Jasper, Brand Director
Rohan Designs Ltd.
