Mis-sold Bank Account

  • Why would anyone agree to something if they don't understand it inside and out? Wouldn't it be your best interest to do so and more fool you if you don't

Now you can get the benefits removed, you may be lucky enough to get some reimbursement of maybe a month's fees as a token gesture but realistically you're not entitled to anything and it's the bank's discretion whether they do offer you anything.

Ps there's no such thing as a Royalties Silver. I assume you mean the Royalties or possibly the Royalties Gold package? Both of which offer discounts on overdrafts. You are able to remove those benefits though, overdraft or not. Just give RBS a quick call to their dedicated team or go into your local branch.

magpiecottage - In this type of case how do you think the Ombudsman would treat the case if there was snowballed charges & hardship i.e. proof of payday loans, on top of the mis-selling claim??

I am not sure - they would need to be satisfied that there was a causal link.

Put in the complaint and see how you get on.

(This has probably astounded those who think I am pro bank but in reality I am pro fairness and I think there is merit in your grievance).
  • Thanks again. I am in the process of drawing up the complaint letter and a spreadsheet showing a link between the monthly account charges and the other charges incurred. One of my main points will be relating to the date the bank took charges from the account. I visited the bank on a number of occasions to ask for this date to be moved as it was 3 or 4 days before payday. They refused each time and this lead to the snowballing. I accept that I am to blame for the poor money management but I asked for help and they refused. I even asked for the account to be converted into a standard account when my ex and I split up but again they refused. Once I have drawn up the letter I will post the details.

Just to let you know I am also all about fairness and live my working life with the six tcf outcomes at the foremost of my mind. I think your consultancy work will increase ten fold in the years to come due to the current speight of rogue fa's that are churning to the Max due to rdr and them leaving the industry.
  • Tell me did you read the article produced by Martin on this topic?

It is very possible that you can do this, if you don't think it is then read the article people.

Ignore the idiots that come back with silly replies!
