UKPC - advice

Greetings all! Before I start, just a quick note to all the regular posters and particuarly Give Them FA, for some outstanding advice and a bloody good read!!

Anyway, down to business. I got a parking charge from UKPC a few weeks back and as per advice, i've completely ignored their requests for me to part with MY money for a vehicle registered to ME in a FREE car park.

Naturally, the parking charge is between the driver of the car at the material time and not the registered keeper and, as the registered keeper, I am under NO legal obligation to disclose who the driver was as, unlike 'official' tickets from a local authority of the local Constabulary, no legislation exists to disclose such details.

Apart from the fact that i'm somewhat annoyed at the audacity of the DVLA to sell my personal details to a private company, who, have no right to obtain such information.

I'm getting bored with the letters from UKPC; should I continue to ignore them or should I write a letter (one only as I don't see why I should waste my time and ink) telling them to cease and desist from harassing me and also that I have no intention of paying?

To be honest, i'd be happy to go to court. They say their signs are prominently displayed; WRONG. There were NO signs at the entrance to the car park and no barriers restricting entry. Therefor, in a FREE car park, thats an open invitation to park. I've seen the photographic evidence. The vehicle was not parked in a correct bay; HOWEVER, it was in a corner space and between the line marking the edge of the space and the end of the car park itself was a four feet 'no mans land' no hatchings and NOTHING to say it was a car parking space. It is clearly way to narrow for a car to park in and it was NOT marked for motorcycles.

The vehicle in question was parked half into this 'no mans land', by the driver at the time and not causing any obstruction whatsoever and NOT taking two spaces.

Do I write to UKPC or not? Having read the advice at length, this would suggest that i'm in 'negotiation territory' and quite frankly I don't wan't to be involved in letter ping-pong with this 'organisation' or become embroiled in any discussion with UKPC.

But, part of me wants to tell them where to get off also.

Any advice?

You called? Here I am at your service!

Really, your assessment of the situation is excellent and confirms that they don't have a leg to stand on; hell, they don't know who the driver is, so it's bye bye UKPC!

If you want to wind them up, I won't stop you. Sending them letters addressed to them with "FREEPOST" added to their address and no stamp is a spiffing wheeze- costs them about £1.50 to be told where they can go!

You speak with the confidence of someone who realises that the bunch of scammers are... a bunch of scammers! So why not a little fun in an otherwise dull life? I am making the most of it before the world ends in December.

Sorry, though, if you are hoping for Court, UKPC will disappoint dreadfully.

Only problem, Stephen, is what are you going to do if Bruce Willis has a prior engagement? I liked the way he dealt with the UKCPS chap Hasbeen, though!
