and they have the money to buy the formula, and know the water is dirty, but don't boil it to make the formula?
Are the nestle people flogging bottles and teets as well?
They give them the bottles or cups.
Often they don't have the money to buy formula, but no parent wants to starve their child. So dad has to find extra work or steal money to be able to buy the formula.
There's rarely mains power in these villages, so boiling water takes quite a lot of effort. I'm not even sure if they are aware they should boil the water or sterilise the bottles. Most of them haven't had the luxury of even a basic education, so can't read what it says on the tin.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

They do a sterling job in some of the orphanages, with cost/reduced price formula for kids who are literally starving to deathWhen your life is a mess, stop and think what you are doing before bringing more kids into it, it's not fair on them.

I would disagree with you there. The baby houses are full of kids who have been dumped by their parents for various reasons. The kids are forgetten by them, and society in general, so nobody cares if they are getting formula cheaper there.
I think what Mildred means is that its good for Nestle to say they give subsidised milk to these children - it makes them look good in some peoples eyes, yourself included.SPC #1813

That's exactly what I meant. Thank you.

are these dirt poor people who are having to get another job or steal the money really making Nestle shed loads of money. Surely they make an absolute fortune in developed countries to start with? When your life is a mess, stop and think what you are doing before bringing more kids into it, it's not fair on them.

Fire has been around for quite a while I think. Or is that in short supply over there as well?
In a part of the world without gas cookers, tap water, electricity and shops full of useful items, everything is much harder work than we might imagine. Some people spend all day just to achieve very basic needs like collecting firewood for cooking. It's actually in short supply in some places because there is no sustainable supply and people walk miles to find it.
As for boiling water, it does if you boil for long enough kill various microbes effectively. However, depending on what it's contaminated with, there may be toxins produced by the microbes which remain and still present a significant health hazard.0
