TryIng to be brief, running WIN XP ( Athlon 64 ). Have C:and
drive.
was original and could boot up using
as if it was prime / only drive, pressing F8 at startup - relevance later
Cant thinks of any changes over to few weeks, but problem started with trying to link to sites ( through Quidco or Hotukdeals ) - Particularly as they went through "tradedoubler" or "clkuk-tradedoubler" the links.
The IE would open another page as normal, show done at the bottom but be blank. Tried all the usual setting, allow cookies, switch of AVG, even switching off ZA and firewall but still the same.
Done alll the spy and virus checks, chkdsk, vol and defrag, cleaned up reg and cookies, lowered all IE settings etc but no difference -
Eventually resorted to Windows backup from while ago and this problem now works ( took a long time ) - Can just link from the pages in IE
Know its something in settings on C: because when booting on
. old settings basics windows and IE and ( email, incredimail )from 2 years ago srtill work as is it was original; but this drive is now just for backups and all of applications etc set up on C:
Now after all day yesterday thought it was sorted but incredimail wont open.
Very similar problem. Tried everything I can think of for Incredimail from repair to full uninstall, including regedit for any difficult reg file, and full install.
Didnt want to go on backup again incase Im back to square1 - above
Incredimail says installed OK, no errors etc etc but when you click to open, has the egg-timer for a blink of the eye then nothing, does not open a page, no error messages etc. Its just as if you never clicked on the application. Tried opening from Icon, pragram files etc but cant even find error messages for what going on
Im 100% sure its something on c: settings because I can reboot on
and use incredimal as if I was using it from 2 yrs ago.
PLEASE any ideas before resorting to wiping / formatting it or just throwing it in the bin
Thanks
