Surely if the TV is faulty the ultimate responsibility in terms of any manufacturers warranty lies with the manufacturer? They can't just say it's got nothing to do with them, go and see the seller, can they? They can't just say it's fine "because we say so" when it is clearly not. Basically what I'm saying is that it is either faulty, or if that is as good as this model gets then Sony are at best exagerating their claims on the website. They did and still are describing the 3D on this TV as "superior 3D picture" and "smooth high quality viewing in 2D and 3D". I must have a case against them on one front or the other? Thanks.
    OK, you may be right.
Remember, you have no statutory rights against the manufacturer... only their warranty.
    Go for it.

    What about the retailer though?
Are they still trading or not?
Don't you think that is worth confirming?
We have nothing so far to say they have ceased trading.

Just out of curiosity do you have your 723 mounted in the "sound bar" base unit? Or is it on the stand that comes with the TV or mounted on the wall? I only ask as I'm trying to eliminate possible causes. Thanks.

Ah yes. Due to the glasses syncing with IR, if there's anything in the way, it could come out of sync. Had someone at work who said their 3d wasnt working at all, or kept de-syncing every few seconds. Turned out they had ornaments blocking the beam.

Thanks. I know they are not trading at Cheshire Oaks. I don't know about anywhere else. Does this mean that if the TV is faulty I have a chance against the warranty. If it is just generally rubbish, despite their marketing claims, I don't?

Then why not get in touch with the administrators as suggested in post#7?
Ask them whether the company Sonex Communications is still trading?

Yes, that about sums it up as far as the warranty is concerned.
Pretty much the same with any manufacturer's warranty I think you'll find.

But I really do think you should be finding out whether Sonex Communications are still trading.

Sonex Communications ceased trading in early January. It looks they kept them open for the Christmas rush then shut the doors. Thanks though.
  • Hi all , I am new here I joined this forum so I could leave a comment about your problems with sony 3d tvs. If you look on the sony's own communty forum you will see many people have been having the same crosstalk / ghosting / double image as you have. I have a KDL-40-723bu or KDL-40-720 as is it called on the forums in America

I got my set in July 2011, I have 4 sets of the bgt 250 3d glasses , a offical sony 3d hdmi cable and a ps3. I waited for the firmware updates (which there have been 4 of so far) and still no change in performance , so I then updated my ps3 to the newer slim 360gb still no change.

I own 16 3d blu-rays and about 6 or 7 3d ps3 games so I have tested quite a bit. The films are hard to watch including Avatar in 3d which is ment to be the best 3dblu-ray out for qualty and the games are imposible to play with all the cross talk.
I have found that if you change the setting of the tv to remedy the picture in one part it destorts another area of the picture.

I have just got my TV back today from sony and they say it is with in spec.

Ok sony dont understand that it is against the law to make false claims in its add campains on the web site about 3d :

Full High Definition pictures with no 'ghosting ' or double-imaging'

This coment is taken from the sony website web page
''Get to know 3D with our 3D FAQs''

Anyway as a result I am collecting date on sonys 3d add campains and customers problems with there TV sets not working as advertised.

Sony has a misleading advertising campain reguarding some of it 3d TV sets

Marketing communications must not mislead consumers by exaggerating the capability or performance of a product.

Also with the product having a 3d picture that is unwatchable , the product is not fit for purpose as a 3d tv set so should not be advertised as such.

This product break two consumers laws that I have been able to find so far.

Any one wanting me to post links to other site or pages with people having the same problem please reply on this post.

Thanks for reading :beer:Hope this may help you in some way.

Hi, It sounds exactly the same story as I've been having. I have noticed that the effect is greatly exagerated when it is a light or bright colour on a darker background. I took screen shots of the Sony page for my TV with their claims for the 3D properties in case they took them down or altered them. Just in case I needed them down the line. They are, last time I checked, still trying to sell the 723 as part of a 3D bundle package!! Sony know full well it's no good. Someone from Sony HQ told us that if we actually wanted to watch 3D we should have bought the HX not the NX. I would welcome any links you have to any other Sony forums. Thanks.
