Quinny Speedi SX or Buzz (or even Zapp?)!

Well 26 weeks and all is still going well....

After reading all the reports and many, many posts on here; we are off to actually try a few buggys today. We have decided on a 3 wheeler (have dog will be in woods etc).

Top of our shopping list is the Which top of the list Quinny Speedi SX. We will try in store (£180) buy on eBay (£90)

HOWEVER, just looking at the stores we will visit today (Toys R Us) and (http://www.babies247.com). Top of their best seller list is the 2006 Quinny Buzz Lightweight Pushchair.

That has raised a few questions:
1. Is the Quinny Speedi SX still the pick of the bunch?
2. Has anyone here tried and bought a Buzz or Zapp instead?
3. Any last minute contenders instead of a Quinny?

Being a buggy addict we have had quite a few different brands.
We had a Hauck travel system, then a Mamas and Papas for DS,then a maclaren.Followed by a Jane + matrix for DD1 and now we have a Quinny Buzz for DD2 and a cossato duetlite for the two girls aswell.
With the Buzz/Zapp/Speedi I'd definately say go for the Buzz. It's fab with being able to recline it virtually right back for newborns and being able to face it either facing away or towards you.Easy to use, nice to push and looks good too.We got the black one but it comes in quite a few funky colours. Also great that you can click the maxi cosi car seat onto it making it so easy to transfer baby in and out of the car without disturbing him/her.
Have you bought your car seat yet?
There are soooo many to choose from aren't there?Gets confusing!!
I will say though that if you want a three wheeler and could spend a few more ££s the Jane is an absolute dream of a pushchair:D

    Looking at the Buzz
    - There doesnt seem to be anywhere to store essentials (nappies, shopping, stuff!)
    - No drink / bottle holder?

  • I have the buzz and you can also buy a shopping basket and a buzz box to store essentials. There is also a zipped pocket on the back of the seat. I think it is brill!!

    Hi,

I have a Quinny Buzz......which is currently in the shed waiting to be put on e-bay.

I've had mine for nearly a year and I don't like it. It looks nice and is comftable for Children, but just isn't very practical.

If you are wanting a pushchair which will be good for walks in the woods etc, then the Quinny Buzz will be useless. It isn't an 'off road' pushchair, it's more of an 'around town' pushchair - but even that is difficult as the Buzz is very wide, so sometimes difficult getting through narrow doorways etc.

There is no storage basket included, but you can buy them for about £25 - I bought one, but you can't fit much in.

I have seen the Quinny Speedi, but have used one. The Speedi looks far more practical to me.

I was tempted to buy a Zapp, but changed my mind when I found out that the seat was in a fixed position (doesn't recline), I would imagine that the Zapp would be useless 'off roading' too.

    Hope this helps!

    Good Luck with your baby.

The pushchair I currently use is a Graco City Sport (small basic 4 wheeled pushchair) It doesn't look beautifull, but is very practical (doesn't take all the boot space up in the car, pushes along nicely, has cup holders, big storage basket underneath, folds up very small and flat, the seat reclines and only cost £45 :D )

We will be looking for a Stroller / pushchair as well.

Interesting to hear the comments on the Graco Citisport especially as it came 17th out of 23 in the which report on strollers.

  • I live near one of those big babystuff warehouses that sells lots of different types of pushchair. After reading a lot of reviews we thought we knew which pushchair we wanted but after spending an afternoon pushing them around and trying to put them into the car boot we changed our mind. It was the Buzz we originally wanted but I found the spring mechanism needed too much brute force to collapse it - no problems in putting it up though. There were other things I didn't like once I tried it in the flesh too - so its good you are off to look at the ones on your shortlist.

Also the sales assistant said the Buzz was the model they sold most of but also by far the one most likely to be returned to the store with either a fault or people just not liking it.

    Hope your search goes well.
:j Go on, shake your money maker! :j
  • We have a quinny zapp and it is great for shopping, etc but no way would it be any good off-road!
Have had loads of pushchairs (bit of addict)! The best 3-wheeler we had was from mothercare. It does really well through the woods and mud! I got mine second hand. This link will show you the one I mean. http://www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000IESW1C/sr=1-1/qid=1173018067/ref=sr_1_1/026-1083951-4182843?ie=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42805041&mcb=core

Do a search on Urban detour on EBay and they are really cheap. I personally would say that it's not worth paying loads of money for a new pushchair which you are going to take through mud, etc in the woods as it will get really messy in no time.

I've had a few pushchairs over the last 5 years. 18 i think now! If you want a offroader - dont dare go for a 3 wheeler!!!! I have had 3 and all of them were bad on hills, bumps and slopes! They have a tendancy to tip. Make sure you go for pneumatic tyres - nicer ride for the child! I had a 4 wheeler quinny freestyle which was the best for our walks on mountains, quarry and forest. Have a Bertini steerable at the moment whch is very simmilar and is great off road and has 4 wheel turning - great for town!
good luck shopping! Oh and for best prices - check ebay shops
