Lloyds TSB - not over 6 years??

I have successfully reclaimed PPI payments from MBNA. Then fired on from that we wrote to my husbands LLoyds TSB card company. They sent back all the photocopies etc of statements and said that they couldn't go back further than 6 years so that is case closed as far as they are concerned.
Is there anyway we can force them to go back further?
Any advice much appreciated!
